The leadership skills in Joel begun to manifest in the year 1996 in trinity primary school Bukoto where he was appointed head boy. This can be credited to his unfortunate background growing up as the first born to his mother and “stay-away father” Joel had to assume the role of father for the rest of his siblings.
This arguably groomed and shaped him into the able-bodied leader he is today. With a very diverse academic background Joel graduated with bachelor’s degree of science in business statistics. While in his senior six vacation Joel’s confidence was exhibited when he applied for and secured a job with UBC in the year 2006 at 19 years of age. He later moved to NTV as a news anchor and at the hight of his career he was appointed the moderator for the presidential debate in the year 2016 and has attained several achievement awards at an age of 32.
Joel Ssenyonyi is an intelligent young Ugandan, accomplished professional, and devoted patriot. He is a man of unquestionable integrity with an impeccable record in speaking out against injustice, bad governance and the many evils that bedevil our society,” Bobi Wine praised Ssenyonyi.

In light of all the above his now current boss Robert kyagulani started his music career in 1997 with songs like Akagoma”, “Funtula”, and “Sunda” (featuring Ziggy D) which brought him success in the East African music scene. At only fifteen years old Bobi wine had already made up his mind that school was not for him, he barely complete his primary and secondary school however this was futile and he thus decided to divert to drama school with a certificate in music dance and drama, he latter formed the fire base crew in the early 2000s due to a raise in conflicts in the music industry with the Leon Island and gagamel crew.
Bobi wine gathered and accumulated several youths to his crew(firebase) as a means to defend himself and bring out intimidation for the other music crews. At a tender age, Bobi wine was already involved in so many conflicts with the police as it was believed that several of his members were always intoxicated and involved in acts of violence.
It was upon this background that Bobi wine actively advocated for weed (MARIJUANA) to be legalized in Uganda and encouraged several youths in Kamwokya to join the movement
Having recruited several youths to this movement Bobi wine then took on the name “ghetto president” with the original motive behind this being advocation for his rights to smoke
The joke stopped being funny after he contested and was elected member of parliament in 2017. During his term in office, he reached out to Joel Ssenyonyi for advice on several occasions and later became friends in 2018.
After the OTT protest organized by Bobi wine in July 2018, Joel then suggested the formation of a political party and thus people power was born with the slogan “people power our power”
The entire movement has been master minded by Joel Ssenyonyi who was merely appointed as the party spokes person yet the difference between Bobi wine and Joel Ssenyonyi is as clear as day and night .
In conclusion, the seat of NUP party president deserves to be held by Joel since he has not only demonstrated his leadership and academic skills but he is also a God-fearing man. However since NUP leadership failed to see that, they’ll suffer the consequences come Jan 14.
