Obongi Ferry Temporarily Suspended Due to High River Nile Water Levels

The Uganda National Road Authority (UNRA) informs the public and their valued users of the Obongi ferry, which connects Obongi and Adjumani District via the Obongi and Sinyanya ferry route, that ferry operations will be temporarily suspended beginning February 14, 2024, until further notice due to high water levels.

This was confirmed in a press statement by UNRA dated February 13, 2024.

According to UNRA authorities, the temporary suspension is a precautionary taken to avert possible safety hazards that may be caused by passengers navigating a flooded section of the access road to Sinyanya ferry landing due to the rising water levels in the River Nile.

However, the affected ferry users are advised to use the Laropi ferry as an alternative during this period as the water levels are still high.

The technical teams are monitoring the situation and intend to intervene at the affected section with an appropriate response once the water levels have subsided.
