NUP Hoima Candidate Heavily Indebted as Party Denies Campaign Funding

The National Unity Platform (NUP) flag-bearer LCV candidate, Moses Aguuda, is swimming in debt after organising rallies in preparation for the coming elections, but supporters did not turn up at the venues, angering the party leadership, who refused to clear the bills.

According to Joseph Wandera, LC1 chairman of Kibengeya Village, Aguuda organised campaigns and booked supplies from different service providers in preparation for Robert Kyagulanyi’s address to the voters.

However, constituents failed to turn up at the designated venues in all the villages, leaving a very disappointed NUP leadership.

“Unfortunately, all campaign grounds visited were empty; there was nothing Aguuda could show off, prompting party leaders to walk out on him in protest,” Wandera said.

Wandera further states that Aguuda is deeply in debt since his party leadership refused to pay for the services he had hired from several service providers.

“His colleagues were so disappointed, especially Bobi Wine, who queried Aguuda about what he has been doing with the earlier mobilisation money they had advanced to him; now he is running around borrowing money to clear the debts,” said Wandera.

The LCV elections are taking place in Hoima today, September 14, 2023.
