It is said a section of top leaders of the NUP Chapter at the University had been compromised after they were give a huge unspecified sum of money to ensure that they vet only delegates of their interest.

The elected delegates are the once mandated to select the NUP Guild flag bearer in July.

According to a reliable source within the NUP Chapter, Nickson Maberi, the Chapter’s Publicity Secretary is bitter, disappointed and has since resigned from his position following the bitter disagreement.

The source further revealed that, Maberi wanted to be given a huge share of bribery proceeds.

Maberi has also prominently accused his other colleagues including the NUP Chapter speaker, Vicent Kayondo of masterminding the event that saw him receiving peanut amount.

In his resignation letter, Maberi faulted both Kayondo and General Secretary of the NUP Chapter, Natambi Margret for being unfair.

Some of those who have prominently been involved in the money swindle include NUP chapter president, Daniel Kisambira, Sophie Namatiti the chapter finance secretary, and Chief Whip, Enock Kato.

Maberi also questioned how the duo managed to secure themselves to the top vetting committee leaving out the legal advisor.

A similar internal fighting over money last year occurred among Kyambogo University NUP chapter top bosses where sections of members were not satisfied with the vetting procedures.
