Mukono municipality MP Betty Nambooze has cried out at the tactics being used by fellow parliamentarian Latif Sebagala to stand again in his constituency after he had declared that he was retiring from active politics.

Latif had earlier on announced that he would challenge Mayor Elias Lukwago in Kampala but later made a U-turn after the death of his elder brother Nasser Sebagala and declared that will contest for his position. NUP had already rushed to endorse new comer Muhammed Segirinya for the position and will now have to face off with the incumbent in yet another constituency were the party has failed to harmonize candidates.

This decision has however not been welcome by a large section of Councillors from Kawempe north who today held a Press Conference denouncing the selection of Muhammad Segirinya saying that he is not fit to hold the card for the party and have instead fronted their own Sulaiman Kidandala who was dismissed by the NUP vetting committee and is suspected of being a mole.

The lack of a uniform position for candidates across many elective positions has been criticized by many and has already been pointed out a stumbling block in the aspirations of the young NUP party ahead of the elections.

On his part, Latif declared that he won’t seek help from anyone and that his decision was final. He has already been accused by NUP of betraying the party by declining it’s endorsement for Mayor and this latest move marks his last engagement with Party ahead of the elections.
