Namboole Roundabout Accident Claims Two Lives, Several Injured

On Thursday evening, December 7, 2023, an accident involving a Fuso vehicle, 13 other cars, and two motorcycles killed two people and injured several others.

According to ASP Michael Kananura, the Traffic Police spokesperson, a Fuso Box body registration number UBD 520H, which was carrying maize, lost control at the Namboole roundabout and rammed into 13 vehicles and two motorcycles.

“According to initial reports from our first responders, the driver of the truck transporting maize from Naalya to Namboole lost control at the roundabout at around 7:00 p.m., failed to brake, and rammed with 13 cars and two motorcycles, resulting in the loss of two lives,” Kananura said.

The deceased persons include one female passenger who was on a motorcycle and a male who was not yet to be identified by press time. The injured people were transferred to Gwatilo and Mulago hospitals for treatment, while the deceased bodies were taken to the Mulago City mortuary, according to Kananura.

The motor vehicles that were involved in the accident were towed to Bweyogere Police Station pending inspection.

Investigations into the cause of the crash have already kicked off as authorities hunt for the Fuso driver, who is on the run.
