Music Show Hooligans need to be Kicked Out ASAP

During the boxing day celebrations in Nabugabo, Masaka a couple of missions were pelted with water and urine bottles while appearing on the performance stage.

This is yet another incident after one earlier this year when NRM leaning music artistes have been treated with disagreement by audiences because of their political orientation.

Most of this behavior can be put down to radical opposition politicians like Bobi Wine who have encouraged their fans to be violent towards artiste that don’t side with him politically.

The hooligans are clearly planning these incidents well ahead of events. They station themselves close enough to the stages to have an impact on the artistes.

They could also be working hand in hand with some radical show organizers sympathetic to the opposition.

Ahead of the 2021 general elections, such incidents could easily be used to stage civil disobedience campaigns. It has all the hallmarks of such a plan. A large group of people in a confined space with overwhelmed security forces.

The hooligans are also clearly using this as a means of economic sabottage against individuals that are not aligned with their political agenda. We have not experienced such hooliganism at shows organised by the likes of bobi wine and it is simply no coincidence.

All in all this vindicates the polices decision to ban some shows as their is an agenda to use them for political campaigns and propaganda.

It is also a condemnation of the opposition in Uganda. They are radical and intolerant to divergent views. They are eager to co strain the Democratic space in the country and are an enemy of peace and coexistence.

The behavior should be stamped out immediately before it grows into an unstoppable trend and leaders responsible for this behavior need to be pointed out and brought to book.
