The President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has urged western countries to stop manipulating and lecturing societies that differ from theirs.
The president made these remarks while he graced the kickoff of the 27th Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) on January 4, 2024, at the Speke Resort Munyonyo.
“Stop manipulation and lectures to societies that are different from yours. If you think you are right, influence people by example,” he said.
According to the president, “down with philosophical, ideological, and strategically shallowness” was the main message of his speech, a statement purportedly pointed at western countries for their intimidation and continued exertion of superiority over developing countries.
In recent months, western powers, such as the USA, have threatened the withdrawal of donor funds to Uganda and visa restrictions on Ugandans for their refusal to embrace homosexuality.
The President also expressed dissatisfaction with the parasitic nature of the Western world since the late 19th century, when they used their progress in science and technology to promote parasitism.
The President noted that soon Uganda will host the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and a Group of 77 plus China (G-77) in the next few days.
He advised that Africans use the two conferences to put African ideas before the world, stating that they should concentrate on utilising the progress of man in the struggle against oppression by nature.
The dignitaries in attendance were the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Among, deputised by Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, the visiting speakers, the Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja, and other esteemed guests.
