Mukono: Two Arrested Over Murder of 14-Year-old Girl

Police in Mukono has arrested two casual laborers in connection with the murder of 14-year- old Betty Kizza Nanfuka.

According to Police, the arrested are Mikaire Oriema, 28 and Martin Nvuyukule, 27 both causal laborers working in Kiswa village in Mukono district.

Nanfuka was a primary seven candidate at St. Andrew Kaggwa Kiswa primary school in Nama sub-county Mukono district.

The parents of the deceased, Josephine Nassozi and Benard Kityo filed a missing person’s case at Nama police on 16th September after Nanfuka went missing from home.

The deceased’s body was then recovered by Police from a bush in Kituba on Saturday 17th September, after being tipped off by the locals.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, says that the two suspects are believed to have murdered Nanfuka after sexually assaulting her.

According to Owoyesigyire, the Police K-9 Unit sniffer dogs managed to lead the detective to the suspects’ homes leading to their arrest.

“The dog led us to the suspects’ place and both suspects are currently detained at Mukono police station,” he said.

Police states that investigations are still ongoing and more details will be released through the course of investigations.
