The Mubende Resident District Commissioner, Al Hajji Lule Umar Mawiya, embarked on community sensitization following the increasing cases of child kidnapping in the area.

RDC Mawiya held a community sensitization engagement at Mubende Town Council Headquarters on Monday, September 2, 2024, where he urged parents to be vigilant.

He cautioned parents against sending children to shop at night and should always watch their safety and avoid leaving them alone at home.

RDC Mawiya says the incident is rampant in Kangulumira village, Mubende Municipality, and has since sparked fear among the community.

According to him, no child should be sent to fetch water or allowed to move out of home without an adult.

“As the district security team, we have come up with strict measures to apprehend the suspects behind the vice,” said RDC Mawiya.

In June and July 2024, two children identified as Julius Asiimwe and Andrew Juunju were reportedly kidnapped, and their bodies were later discovered lifeless.

Asiimwe disappeared while his parents were watching television, and Juunju was reportedly abducted while returning from school.
