Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) Uganda, under the leadership of Nick Hitchins, the country director, has defied the presidential directive of handing over the airfield, to the Ugandan government for better management and co-existence with its neighbors.

The Aviation which serves in 34 different countries, with a fleet of 120 airplanes, operates as a non-profit aircraft, church and humanitarian organization at Kajjansi airfield, with its headquarters in Nampo, Idaho, United States.

In President Museveni’s letter to the Minister of Works and Transport, General Katumba Wamala, MAF had used the airfield for 25 years and its contract has expired, which the government is not ready to renew.

The presidential directive issued on February 13, 2023, follows a complaint that was launched by Bar Aviation Authority, a transport and passenger aircraft, accusing MAF for intrusion on their airfield and mistreatment.

“I have received a complaint from a transport and passenger Air-craft owner known as Bar Aviation against Mission Fellowship-MAF, a co-user of the Kajjansi Airfield,” the letter read in part.

Bar Aviation offers private jet charter, scheduled domestic flights, Med Evac and helicopters in the region.

In addition to defying the presidential directive, MAF management has continued mistreating other users of this airfield to the extent of over-charging them.

The President wrote to the Minister of Works and Transport, Gen. Katumba Wamala to have matters resolved and advised that government reclaims the airfield and run it again.
