Ministry of Internal Affairs Announces Temporary Closure of Passport Services

The directorate of citizenship and immigration control from the Ministry of Internal Affairs has issued a temporary breakdown of services at the passport collection office in Kyambogo.

According to a statement issued dated October 30, 2023, this was due to a damaged fiber optic cable that has adversely affected the system.

“We are unable to issue passports at our passport issuance office in Kyambogo (former Face Technologies). We are working around the clock. with the relevant agencies to ensure restoration of normal service at the earliest,” the statement stated in part.

The Ministry said that communications will be made in due course upon restoration and that all applicants waiting to pick up their passports are advised to wait until restoration.

The ministry further noted how they regret any inconveniences caused.

On January 19, 2023, all passport-related services closed temporarily closed for upgrades for two days; however, the period it will take this time is not exact. The upgrade affected all passport offices at the Ministry headquarters, the regional offices, and missions abroad.
