The Anti-Corruption Court in Kololo has today, May 4th, 2023, granted the State Minister for Karamoja Affairs, Agnes Nandutu, a cash bail of Ugx 10 million.

Justice Jane Okuo Kajuga presided over the verdict, which granted bail to the minister based on her medical condition, stating that the information supplied reveals that Nandutu is not in good health and that prison authorities have not submitted any indication that they can handle her illness.

According to the judge’s ruling, Nandutu was asked to also submit copies of her two land titles and passport, while each of her three sureties was bonded at Ugx 50 million. One of her sureties was asked to submit a land title too.

The minister was remanded to Luzira Prison on April 19, 2023, following the misappropriation of Karamoja iron sheets that were meant for the vulnerable groups in Karamoja sub region.

Nandutu is expected to report to court as directed in the main case, while her trial has been scheduled to start on May 25, 2023.
