Miners Reassured of Govt’s Commitment to Fight Criminal Activities in Kassanda

In a meeting at Kyekampala, Kijuna Sub-county, on Thursday, August 17, 2023, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP), Tumusiime Katsigazi, reassured Kassanda miners of law enforcement’s unwavering commitment to fighting crime and safeguarding the region.

The primary objective of this meeting was to directly address the pressing security concerns prevalent in the mining areas.

The DIGP visited Kassanda district and toured several mining regions to learn about gold mine operations and industry challenges. The tour covered several key mining sites including Kisita Gold Mine in Mbirizzi sub-county, Ngugo in Mbirizzi sub-county, Lubali in Kitumbi sub-county, and Kyekampala in Kijuna sub-county.

Katsigazi assured miners of Kassanda tight security as they conduct their mining businesses.

The meeting was attended by police directors, immigration officers, representatives from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, miners, and local leaders.
