Medical and Nature Tourism to Elevate Uganda’s Tourism Potential

H.E President Yoweri Museveni while speaking at the US-African summit in the US on 14th December 2022, spoke of using reverse medical tourism in Uganda, by providing super–specialized service to patients from abroad.

According to President Museveni, taking advantage of the good high–attitude climate of Uganda will aid the recovery of patients with heart, kidney and cancer diseases because Uganda’s elevation is above sea level between 621m and 5119m above sea level which will help in alleviation of these diseases.

Similarly, at the recently concluded Miss Tourism World where Miss Immaculate Kyasiimire represented Uganda, she promised to promote tourism in Uganda by selling Uganda’s beauty to the world.

Kyasiimire, who won the title of Miss Tourism World Tour Ambassador, at the contest held in Hanoi city in Vietnam, wowed the judges by dressing in a unique attire representing the mountain Gorillas of Uganda and the crested crane. The show case of the Uganda’s nature won her a title which she promised to use as a platform to show case unique Uganda’s beauty.

Although the President and Kyasiimire are promoting different types of tourism to the world, the tourism industry is sure to get a boost from both parties. However, it’s on all of us to support and showcase Uganda to the world for the nation to achieve its tourism potential.

Due to COVID19, Uganda’s tourism suffered huge decline but as the world recovers from the pandemic, it is evident that Uganda still has a lot to offer whether it be in its climate, scenery, flora or fauna.
