Mancity, Inter Milan Cruise into the UEFA Champions League Semifinals

Last night, Manchester City drew 1-1 with Bayern Munich to force the six-time champions Bayern FC out of the competition.

Eerling Haaland couldn’t stop scoring as he netted his 12th goal of the tournament in the 57th minute, making him the top scorer ahead of Mohamed Salah, who stands at 8 goals and has already exited the competition.

Joshua Kimmich managed to score a consolation penalty for the Bundesliga giants in the 83rd minute as the game ended 4-1 on aggregate in favor of the Premier League champions, who had thumped their opponents 3-0 at Etihad last week.

Manchester City will face Real Madrid on May 9th in Spain in their first leg after the Galacticos edged out Chelsea with a 4-0 aggregate.

In the other games played last night, Inter Milan drew 3-3 with Benfica at San Siro in a six-goal frenzy as the Portuguese side managed to come from behind to equalize every time the hosts went ahead. The Nerazzurri managed to go through to the final with a 5-3 aggregate after winning 2-0 at the Estádio da Luz in Lisbon, Portugal.

Inter Milan will play their Milan rivals AC Milan on 10th May at San Siro after AC Milan beat Seria A table leaders Napoli 2-1 on aggregate to qualify for the semifinals. AC Milan managed a 1-1 draw at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples, Italy, and having won 1-0 at San Siro last week meant that AC Milan goes through with a 2-1 aggregate.

It’s going to be a thrilling semifinal between the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri at the San Siro after a total of 235 official matches. Inter have the overall edge, with 87 wins compared to AC Milan’s 79 and 69 draws, and at least we are very sure we shall have an Italian club in the finals. Italian teams have appeared in a final 28 times since 1955, when the competition was still called the European Cup, and the Italian teams have won a total of 12 finals out of their 28 appearances.
