Lira City Hosts National Tech Camp 2025: A Gateway to Digital Empowerment

In the heart of Lira City, the National Tech Camp 2025, organized by Kakebe in collaboration with global and local companies like Huawei, Lira University Jerusalem Heritage School, Oysters & Pearls and National Information Technology Authority (NITA Uganda), is set to shape Uganda’s digital future.
The ongoing Tech Camp is running until January 19, 2025 and  is a melting pot of creativity, learning, and collaboration. The camp is open to vacists, ICT enthusiasts, creatives, and anyone passionate about technology, it offers an exciting line-up of workshops, hackathons, exhibitions, and panel discussions.
Through creativity, inclusion and hands-on learning, the National Tech Camp 2025 in Lira seeks to equip Uganda’s youth for a promising future in the technology sector.
While addressing the attendees, Jane Ruth Acheng the minister of health, highlighted the significance of digital literacy in reshaping Uganda’s socio-economic landscape and urged the youth to seize the opportunities provided by the week-long event.
Acheng, captivated the audience with her inspiring keynote speech that echoed the camp’s theme: “Empowering Youth for a Digital Future” and said that the camp is a venue for building relationships in addition to technical workshops
“This Tech Camp isn’t just an event,” Hon. Acheng declared passionately. “It’s a gateway to the limitless potential of a digitally empowered Uganda. Let this be the spark that ignites your journey to innovation.”
Minister Acheng was accompanied by distinguished dignitaries, like Hon. Tonny Ayo and Hon. Judith Alyet, who together emphasized the government’s dedication to raising a generation that is knowledgeable about technology.
She added that the attendees have a unique opportunity to interact with leading industry professionals, explore emerging technologies like AI, blockchain, and renewable tech, and gain practical skills for the future job market.
The National Tech Camp 2025 stands out as a transformative opportunity for Uganda’s youth to acquire vital skills that will prepare them for future job markets while fostering innovation and collaboration within the tech community. By embracing this opportunity, participants are not only shaping their futures but also contributing to the broader narrative of Uganda’s technological advancement and innovation.
