Kizza Besigye is Delusional and merely being populist to suggest that, “that government should pay each household Shs 100,000 per month for a period of six months as part of its interventions in the post Covid19 period”.

Besigye does not mention any ways through which government would raise this money given that revenue collection has been greatly hit by the pandemic. The government has also embarked on some measures such as distributing food and relief items to vulnerable people around the country.

It is this same Besigye that had earlier claimed that he would distribute food to Ugandans but failed flat on his belly.

Distributing money to households over the period of time he suggested would be impractical and would not solve the problems of the majority of Ugandans. A lot of money is currently needed in the health sector to combat the pandemic and that should remain the focus of the government at this time.

The Ministry of Finance has also tabled a Stimulus plan before cabinet and we need to wait to see what comes of those discussions as support to businesses will go along way in shielding Ugandans against the economic impact of the pandemic.

Besigye in the meantime should focus on his party, FDC to find ways in which they can be of help to their members and the country in general. Building castles in the sky is of no use at this time.
