A courageous resident of Kawoko Trading Center, Butenga rural subcounty, Bonny Lutaaya, is being hailed as a hero after he fought off two armed robbers and recovered a stolen gun during a late-night attack on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2024.

Sources state that the robbers, who remain unidentified, reportedly dug a tunnel into Lutaaya’s house and gained entry in the early hours of the morning.

An aggressive fight followed, lasting over half an hour before the robbers fled the scene empty-handed.

According to Lutaaya, the commotion alerted other family members who raised the alarm, prompting the robbers’ escape.

However, Lutaaya’s bravery resulted in the recovery of a stolen AK-47 rifle and several rounds of ammunition.

The gun, which bears police identification marks, has been handed over to the Bukomansimbi District Police Commander for investigation, said Lutaaya.

Fred Kalema, the Bukomansimbi Deputy Resident District Commissioner, confirmed the incident and commended Lutaaya’s actions.

The people of Kawoko Trading Center are urging the government to recognize Lutaaya’s bravery and compensate him for the property damage he suffered during the attack.
