KATIKKIRO MAYIGA IS BUGANDA KINGDOM’S NUMBER ONE ENEMY

The Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Edward Frederick Kimera Muwenda Mutebi II celebrated his 66th birthday on 13th April.  The celebrations happened across the country but the main event was held at his palace in Mengo where he was joined by a couple of dignitaries, Government officials and royal members in to celebration.

Individuals took to their social media accounts to wish the Kabaka a blessed birthday as many pondered on why the prime minister (Katikkiro) and the Nnabagereka (the Queen) would deliver to the public a frail person plus too many questions about his health, following his weak appearance at his birthday.

The Kabaka had not appeared in public for quite some time and this had sparked public debate on whether he was actually fine.

Questions pertaining to his frail health have left many in a shock wave with his subjects castigating the  Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga of reckless abandon and lying to the public that the King was actually well and running Kingdom affairs, only to be brought to the public eye in such a frail state, making him a subject of debate by both the empathetic and, otherwise.

What were Mayiga’s intentions?  Has he become a mercenary? a sadist? has he sold the kingdom? Many posed such questions. Well, Mayiga has not come up to give any communication on the matter.

Katikiro Mayiga has been branded Buganda’s number one enemy. A cross section is asking him to resign for failure to execute his duties in a manner that is respectful of the Kabaka.  “Yatyobodde ekitibwa kya Kabaka,” literally meaning he shamelessly disrespected the Kabaka by bringing him forth in the state he is in.

Kabaka’s life is a public good. His subjects in Buganda and elsewhere have always shown adoration, at all cost. Failure to account to them heightens suspicion and unwarranted commentary.

No wonder, a purported copy of a letter that suggests a meeting at Bulange, the administrative seat of Buganda, to axe Mayiga has been making rounds on social media.

This coupled with a number of other atrocities Mayiga has committed against the people of Buganda; siphoning sums and sums of money under the guide of etoffali, chief land grabber plus many other skeletons in his closet, the Kabaka’s subjects are saying enough is enough.

Several frustrated Buganda Kingdom loyalists have been wondering why Mayiga would siphon money from his not-well to do subjects through an unpopular land policy which only benefits him and his team of Mafias at Bulange.

In 2016, Mayiga under the guise of Buganda land board gave land which used to house Nabagereka Primary School to city business man John Bosco Muwonge which left more 1000 pupils stranded after its demolition. He is also faulted for giving away 7 square miles located in Magyo, Kyaggwe and Kibuga land Block 16 plot 85 measuring 6 acres in Nalukolongo at UGX4 billion to BIDCO oil company which displaced more than 10000 subjects.

He fleeced enough money from poor Ugandans through organizing events like the annual Kabaka birthday run that is jointly organized by Airtel Uganda and  ‘Enkuuka yomwaka’ at Lubiri palace which he would never account for.

Writing about Mayiga’s atrocities to the people of Buganda could fill up a book. Now that he has over stepped his boundaries, very soon, Buganda will know whom he serves. The news of his sacking is long overdue.

Quick recovery to the Kabaka. Long live the Kabaka. Wangala Ayii Benne.
