Police in Kassanda district are investigating circumstances under which unidentified thugs attacked the chairperson of boda-boda operators and his wife with a machete.

The victims, identified as Abdul Wamala and Noeline Bukirwa, both residents of Wetiye village in Kiganda Sub County, have remained in critical condition and nursing wounds sustained from the July 13, 2024, attack.

According to Wamala, the suspected machete-wielding goons reportedly attacked them at around 3 a.m. on July 13th.

He said two out of the four assailants were armed with machetes. Both Wamala and the wife sustained severe cuts on different parts of their bodies.

Ernest Kiganda Sebayigga, the Mituba Entaano Sub County Chief, said such attacks are on the rise in the area.

He attributed the vice to youths who have resorted to alcohol abuse without working.

Kiganda further condemned these acts and called upon security agencies to crack down on the masterminds of the recent murder cases.

“The people who attacked Wasswa either came to kill him or give him a death scare, so police should not take this lightly but rather investigate more about this matter, Kiganda disclosed.

This is the latest attack by the machete-wielding goons in the area. The police have yet to apprehend the suspects behind Wamala’s attack.
