Kampala-Gulu Highway Accident Kills Four, Injures Six

Four people have been confirmed dead and six others were critically injured in an accident that occurred at Luwero Town Council along the Kampala-Gulu Highway.

Sam Twiineamazima, the Savannah Regional Police spokesperson, explains that the accident occurred at around 5 a.m. on September 4, 2024, involving a taxi with registration number UBG 392N, a Toyota Hiace, and an unidentified truck.

“The taxi, which was heading to Kampala City from Gulu, collided with a truck before it lost control and overturned in the trench along the highway,” police said.

Four people, including the taxi driver, identified as Mozes Chitaka, a resident of Wobulenzi town.

He further added that police rescued six passengers from the wreckage before they were evacuated to Luwero Hospital for treatment and the bodies were transferred to the mortuary at Luwero Hospital for post-mortem.

Twiineamazima noted that the driver of the truck was not identified as he is still at large.
