The Kabaka of Buganda, Muwenda Mutebi wished it to meet President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at State Lodge in Nakasero to discuss a myriad of issues but key being the now proposed land reforms in the country.
The meeting came on the backdrop of allegations from naysayers especially those hoping to use the land question as a means to antagonize the relationship between the Central and Buganda governments. It also followed the 28th celebrations of the coronation of the Kabaka in which he stated that the Kingdom had direct demands to the central government especially in regard to rent arrears for properties occupied by government offices.
The meeting is set to set in motion a number of activities that will hopefully improve the working relations of the two influential leaders in the country.
It has also helped the Kabaka appear in more public events and help dismiss rumours of poor health. The meeting shows that the Kabaka is still strong and there is no leadership vacuum at the kingdom as alleged.
Any questions over the intentions of the proposed reforms should now be dismissed something that should be confirmed by the Kingdoms officials.
