Judicial Officers Set to Resume Hearing Cases Tomorrow

The Judiciary has called upon court users to start following up on their cases because the vacation for High Court and Magistrate Court officers, ends today.

“The court vacation ends tomorrow (today), meaning that on Wednesday, court users can come to courts across the country and have their cases heard,” Mr. Jamson Karemani, the public relations officer of the Judiciary, said yesterday.

He added: “During the court vacation, the judges were clearing pending rulings and judgements, and hope they did so and they are now ready to hear cases.”

However, Mr. Karemani was quick to say that court vacation for the appellate courts (Court of Appeal and Supreme Court) is still on until the end of this month. The court vacation is mandatory and is provided for by Judicature Act (Court Vacation) Rules S1 1320. This is a period between the end of one term of court and the beginning of another, especially in civil cases.
