Jinja city lies in the South Eastern region of Uganda along the northern shores of Lake Victoria, East Kampala.
With a lively multi-cultural feel, considered the Capital of Busoga region. Jinja is home to the Nile River and other numerous tourist sites which attracts various tourists that flock the city from all over the world.
Before 1906, Jinja was just a fishing village. Its origin comes from the name Jinja. Two people of Buganda and Busoga origin that lived on either side of the River came up with the name, driving it from the huge rocks that were found in the area along the river Nile. This in both languages means stone.
