IBANDA District bans moving of animals at night to avert

The district security committee has resolved to prohibit animal movement at night in order to reduce the rising number of occurrences of animal theft.

During an interview at his office on Friday, Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Joseph Drake Mukiibi, also the head of district security, said that certain bad actors have been exploiting the cover of darkness to transport stolen animals to surrounding districts.

He stated that police have begun erecting roadblocks along important highways around the district and will be on the lookout for violators of the latest instruction, among other things. This week, he identified theft incidents reported primarily in Bisheshe Division, where he has engaged in security meetings with local leaders, technical personnel, GISOs, and officers-in-charge at various police locations.
