High Court Jails Serial Killers of Women in Wakiso for 49 years

The High Court Criminal Divisions sitting in Kampala have sentenced two serial killers to 49 years imprisonment for masterminding the kidnappings and murders of women in 2018 and 2019 in Kyengera Town Council.

The duo was sentenced after pleading guilty to the offenses.

In his ruling, Justice Alex Ajiji, while delivering his judgment on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, in Kampala, said the lengthy sentence was necessary to protect young women and deter other potential offenders from engaging in the same act.

Justice Ajiji said A1 has been convicted and sentenced on four different kidnapping and murder cases, while A2 has now been convicted on the second charge of kidnapping and murder.

The two have been undergoing trial for six years for the murder of Joan Namazzi and Namatovu Mayimuna, both residents of Nabbingo, Kyengera Town Council in Wakiso district.

The wave of criminality involved kidnappers who demanded ransom from the victims’ families and friends.

During court proceedings, Mugabe Kamada Shakur asked for a lenient sentence and requested to be allowed to meet President Yoweri Museveni to disclose the identities of others still at large.
