Gov’t to Establish a Tea Factory in Rukiga District

The Minister for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, David Bahati has revealed Government’s plan of establishing a Tea factory in Rukiga district to process the tea being grown on large scale in the district.

This was revealed by the Rukiga County Member of Parliament, Roland Ndyomugenyi who represented Hon. David Bahati on Tuesday 20th September during the fundraising event towards the construction of multipurpose hall and boys’ dormitory at Kantare Secondary school in Kashambya Sub County, Rukiga District.

The Minister, through a statement said that government had finalized the process of establishing the Tea factory in the areas of Rukiga District.

 “I am glad to inform you that government has been working with investors to finalize the process of establishing a Tea factory in Rukiga district,” the statement read.

He added that the establishment of the factory in the district will boost development and improve people’s standard of living through providing employment.

“We believe this will help in boosting the development of our district and the country in terms of income,” Bahati added.

He further revealed that the government is committed to providing at least a secondary school per sub-county in the all over the country.

Through Hon. Ndyomugenyi, the Minister contributed Ugx10 Million towards the construction project of Kantare Secondary School, which is a government aided school.
