Gov’t prioritises welfare, economic empowerment of soldiers

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has emphasised the government commitment to prioritise welfare improvement and the economic empowerment of soldiers.

The President was on Friday commissioning a total of 297 officer Cadets at Kabamba Military school in Mubende district.

“I commissioned 297 Professional Officer Cadets from the Uganda Military Academy Kabamba, which is now affiliated with Makerere University. I congratulate the officers for completing this 3-year course and thank their families for standing with them,” President said.

According to President,  NRM regime has successfully achieved in building a professional and strong army, a move that has sustained Uganda’s peace, security and stability.

“We have achieved a lot in building a professional and strong army, my clarion call, therefore, is that we also focus on the economic empowerment of the men in uniform and their families. The time is ripe for the government to pay officers well,”Mr. President emphasized.

This financial year, government enhanced salary for senior officers from the rank of Major to full General  and lower Cadres are expected to get salary increment in the coming financial year.
