Gov’t Commences CT Scan Machine Training for Operators

According to the Dr. Charles Olaro, Director Curative Services at the Ministry of Health, medical experts who will operate the CY scan machines are currently undergoing training.

“This equipment is already installed in a number of units most of them are awaiting inspection because before it’s commissioned, the Atomic energy liaison office in Kampala has to inspect them, for safety and also that they are meeting standards. When this is done they are good to use, it’s the first time we are having this. In terms of capacity, training is ongoing and they are working with Health Service Commission to recruit the requisite staff,’’ he said.

In 2021, the government through the Ministry of Health revealed that they had finalized the planning and funding for the installation of Computed Tomography (CT) Scan machines in all the fourteen Regional Referral Hospitals in the country.
