Government to seek agreement with countries over labour export

The government of Uganda is set to reach agreement with middle east countries over labour export issues, speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has revealed.

The speaker made these revelations while speaking on a radio talk show on 98.4 impact FM.

According to the speaker, she said,
“I once slept in a hotel on Abudhabi, and 3 Ugandan girls approached me , narrated how well they are paid and the good living conditions, so it’s not bad for everyone. We want agreement with countries importing cheap labour from Uganda”.

This development comes on the back of media reports of mistreatment of Ugandan labor workers especially women in the middle east.

The speaker also revealed that her satisfaction towards the recently released BOU Cosase report saying, “On the COSASE report, I am happy the investigations were completed and we have the report, when we started the BOU Investigations, a number of people opposed us and wanted to block investigations”.

In her closing remarks during the talkshow, the Speaker informed the public that Parliament plans to set up it’s own radio, and hopes the radio will mitigate misinformation about Parliamentary business.
