Government To Construct Industrial Park for Art & Entertainment Industry

The government has announced plans to construct an industrial park that will help in discovering and boosting talents for social economic development of Ugandans.

This was revealed yesterday by government chief whip Hon Thomas Tayebwa while delivering his speech at Kololo independence grounds during the closure of the first ever “Janzi Awards”

Janzi Awards aimed at rewarding the most creative and best actors, poets, singers, dancers, writers an initiative spearheaded by government through the operation Wealth Creation (OWC).

Hon Tayebwa said that creative industry contributes 3% of county’s GDP the reason why government in the next 5 years plans to construct 21 industrial parks and one of which will be given for creative industry to help the industry.

Tayebwa noted that this industrial park will help to reduce on youth unemployment hence stopping youths from getting involved in acts such robbery, smoking drugs as well as things which threaten the country’s security and at times lead them to death or jail.

He also disclosed that government also plans to review the copyright law to help singers, actors, writers and the rest of the entertainment industry to earn from their hard work.

Meanwhile James Ssewakiryanga founder and executive director of JANZI Band and one of the people behind JANZI  initiative also urged winners and Ugandan artists to work hard to make their industry to be admired by everybody,

Ssewakiryanga warned musicians to desist from following politicians who only want to achieve their political goals but not music industry.
