Government Disburses PDM Funds to Beneficiaries in 8 Districts

The Government of Uganda has disbursed Parish Development Model (PDM) funds to beneficiaries in 8 districts across the country.

During the launch of the disbursement of the funds on 14th December 2022 in Kayunga district, Guest of Honor and the Vice President of Uganda Rt. Maj Jessica Alupo, assured guests that the NRM would fulfill its manifesto to the people of Uganda.

“This strategy was drawn from the NRM manifesto, the National Development Plan 111 and NRM’s Strategy on delivering social economic transformation,” Alupo said.

Amos Lugolobi, the State Minister for Finance said that the Ministry will continue disbursing funds to ready PDM SACCOS and those that are not ready will get funds once Local Government clears them.

“The beneficiary districts include Gulu, Pallisa, Kiryandongo, Ibanda, Rukungiri, Kayunga, Kabale and Kanungu, but funding will only be given to the ready PDM SACCOS as local government clears the rest,” Lugolobi stated.

In 2022, Government has so far released UGX529.7 billion, where UGX206.3 billion was disbursed directly to bank accounts of 8251 SACCOs in 162 local governments.

Government tasked Centenary Bank, Finance Trust Bank, Housing Finance Bank and Post Bank to enable beneficiaries to get the funds.

The Minister of Local Government, Raphael Magezi urged District leaders to get involved in PDM and mobilize the population to embrace the program.

According to government, PDM will improve the quality of life for the beneficiaries and increase their household income.
