Four UPDF Officers Appointed as Police AIGPs

President Yoweri Museveni has appointed four new Assistant Inspector Generals of Police, from Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).

The appointed officers to join the Police force are Brig. Jack Bakasumba, Brig Godfrey Goloba, Col. Jese Kamunanwire and Col. Chris Damulira.

Brig. Jack Bakasumba has been appointed as the Chief of Joint Staff for the Police, while Col. Ddamulira who has been the deputy CMI director for counter terrorism is now director of crime intelligence in the Uganda Police.

Brig. Godfrey Goloba who has been the defence attaché in Russia will be working as Director of human resource and training. Col. Jese Kamunanwire who served as Director of personnel in UPDF is the new Director Human resource Administration in the police force.

UPDF  spokesperson congratulated the officers on their new appointments. “Congratulations to the UPDF General and Senior officers seconded and appointed to various positions in the Uganda Police Force. UPDF remains available to support other agencies of government in their quest to build capacity for the good of our country,” said Brig Richard Karemire the UPDF spokesperson.

As a result of the new appointments, IGP Okoth Ochola has switched several police officers to new assignments.

AIGP Moses Balimwoyo, who was heading police’s Human Resource Administration and Management  will now lead the Interpol deputized by SCP Amur Chompe while Haruna Isabirye who has been in charge of Human Resource Development has been sent to New York as Uganda Mission Police attaché.

SCP Ben Oyo Nyeko, who has been serving in acting capacity as Interpol boss has been sent to Afripol headquarters in Algeria as Liasion Officer.

The IGP Ochola said in a memo on July 2nd that the formalizing of the appointments of the UPDF officers is in the process and they will hold a rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police.
