The Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) President Gianni Infantino slammed the western countries for their double standards and moral hypocrisy towards other parts of the world.

Infantino, while speaking at the opening press conference on the eve of the on-going World cup tournament in Qatar lashed out at those criticizing the country’s human rights record saying the moral lessons and one sided stories are just hypocritical.

“I don’t want to give you any lessons of life, but what is going on here is profoundly unjust and hypocrisy,” Infantino said.

He questioned European immigration policy that closed all its borders for hundreds to thousands of migrant workers from developing countries by denying them a chance to give future to their families. This has increased the number of illegal migrant workers in European countries and the US whose living conditions are below the minimum required standards.

“Those who reach Europe and those who want to go to Europe, they have to go through a very difficult journey and only a few survive,” he said.

The FIFA President reminded the West that they are not the spokespersons of humanity and instead of giving one sided moral lessons, they should apologize to the victims of their atrocities.

“We are told to take many lessons from some Europeans and the Western world and I’m European. I think for what we Europeans have been doing for 3,000 years around the world, we should be apologizing for the next 3,000 years before starting to give moral lessons to people,” Infantino said.

Infantino had no kind words for the west and reminded them that their values aren’t universal to everyone. He said there are other cultures globally with different values that should be equally respected.

However, Infantino’s call to the west to respect other people’s morals seems to have fallen on their deaf ears with several protests especially from the LQBTQ+ community pushing to display their posters inside playgrounds.

Different sports personalities have also accused the West and the US of politicizing world football tournament. They claim that several criticisms are not about helping to improve the tournament but they are instead politically motivated.
