FDC Turmoil Deepens as Besigye Confiscates Land Title to Party Headquarters

The founder of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Kizza Besigye Kifefe, has hidden the land title to the party headquarters located in Najjanankumbi along Entebbe Road.

According to Erias Lukwago, the interim FDC party President Katonga faction, Patrick Amuriat Oboi and Nathan Nandala Mafabi, have no right to be occupying FDC NanjJankumbi offices since they are not in possession of the land title.

“The land title was removed from their care; at the time, Dr. Besigye exited the Nanjjanakumbi offices. Ask Nandala or POA if they have the land title of Najjanankumbi. Do they even know where it is? Right now, it’s just a matter of time; the law will sort out all that in due time,” said Lukwago.

Lukwago further stated that all bank accounts of the party have been blocked, and Nandala, Amuriat, and treasurer Geoffrey Ekanya are no longer signatories.

“We also issued communication to the banks about the management of the funds; the accounts of the party where Nandala and Ekanya are signitories have since been suspended, and as long as they remain suspended, their signatures on those accounts cannot be valid. Therefore, banks have been notified not to honour any cheques signed by the two,” Lukwago stressed.

The blocking of bank accounts, however, did not shake the Najjanakumbi faction, according to a source; they anticipated this and were ready in advance because the party’s financial problems were on the horizon.

“The Najjanakumbi had withdrawn all the money from the accounts and transferred it to an unknown location,” the source stated.

This comes from the FDC split, where both fractions have accused the other of trying to sell FDC to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) under President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

However, what remains unanswered to the members of the FDC party is whether the Najjanankumbi Party headquarters land title is registered in the party’s names or solely owned by the party founder, Kiiza Besigye.
