The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC)) has sacked Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda from the position of party chief whip in parliament on August 8, 2023.
The decision was communicated to the party speaker Nathan Nandala Mafabi, through the party president, Patrick Amuriat, who named Yusufu Nisibambi as the new speaker of the FDC party.
According to Patrick Amuriat,the FDC, party president, Sssemujju belongs to the camp which is opposed to the current FDC leadership of Patrick Amuriat and Nanadala Mafabi, whom he accused of stealing money, which he termed dirty money got from the state house.
Amuriat said that Semujju’s sacking came as a result of his unwillingness to work with the electoral leaders of the party.
“We have taken the decision as the party to relieve Ssemujju is off his duties, on account of his unwillingness to continue working with the elected leaders,” Amuriat stated.
Amuriat further states that Ssemjju has been off from his duties, and for almost five years he has never presented a report from parliament when he was chief whip of the opposition, and his poor presentation of the party has made the committee take action.
Ssemujju’s reaction to the development was unjust, and he said that he was not appointed but elected by the FDC Party’s National Executive Committee, so the party president has no powers to sack him.
