๐The Minister of State for Internal Affairs Gen David Muhoozi has reiterated Uganda Peoplesโ Defence Forces (UPDF) commitment to continue working with the population to preserve peace and security.ย Gen Muhoozi was launching the 2023 Tarehe Sita activities in Mbarara District. He called upon all uniformed men and women to protect their relationship with the population for the continuity of peace.

๐President Yoweri Museveni has urged judges to use the available resources accorded to the Judiciary to dispense justice to all Ugandans. The President made the remarks on Monday while officiating at the opening of the four-day 24th Annual Judgesโ Conference at Mestil Hotel, Kampala.
โWhat if the money is not enough, what do we do? Should we say that a country without money will have no justice?โย he said.

๐Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party president Patrick Oboi Amuriat has hailed President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for leading a team of Ugandans to liberate the country under the ten point program. He was addressing a weekly press briefing at party head quarters in Najjanankumbi.
โMr. Museveni and his group expanded fifteen point program and later turned it into 10 points; democracy, Security, Consolidation of National security and elimination of all forms of sectarianism, defending and consolidating National Independence by building an independent, integrated and self-sustaining national economyโ, Eng. ๐บ๐ฌ Traffic Police sets guidelines ahead of schools opening next weekย
๐ Faridah Nampiima, the traffic police spokesperson onย Monday laid guidelines to motorists ahead of schools opening on February 06, 2023 whichย will be characterized with heavy traffic. She advised parents and guardians to plan for their Journeys to avoid reckless driving, and traffic congestion. Passenger service vehicles (PSV) are also reminded to observe the road rules, during this season. She said the traffic police will have snap checks, and all PSV operators are advised not to over load. Boda boda riders are reminded to be careful when riding students to school and all school owners are reminded to service the school vehicles before school starts.

๐บ๐ฌ URA puts measures to cub corruptionย
๐URAโs spokesperson, Ibrahim Bbosa noted that the body has in the past two years adopted wide-ranging measures to eradicate corruption in the institution. He said these measures include the lifestyle audit policy which URA adopted last year to catch corrupt employees with unexplained wealth. According to URA, the audit is carried out based on information received from informers, general public, media, law enforcement agencies, among other sources. The strategy according to URA is designed to guide individuals to effectively carry out their responsibilities and assert their rights.

๐Airtel Uganda has announced the overhaul of its fleet with the aim of reducing carbon emissions as part of its environmental stewardship goal and serving customers better. Flavia Ntambi, the Airtel Ugandaโs Human Resource Director explained that the company launched green-towers that donโt use fossil fuels in Iganga as part of reducing carbon emissions in the operations.

๐ Dr. Naya Jessy attached to Pallisa General Hospital has been arrested for corruption and abuse of office after he demanded 200,000 thousand shillings to operate on an expectant mother. Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson said that after failing to raise the money, the husband reported to RDCโsย office that acted immediately with police and arrested him.
โHe was charged with corruption and abuse of office. The health care system in Uganda serves so many vulnerable members of the society and it is sad that they are undermined by such corrupt officers,โ Enanga said.

๐At least two medical workers have been arrested in connection with the theft and sale of Government drugs in private clinics. The suspects were picked on Monday from two different private clinicsย located in Buhunga Sub CountyCounty in Rukungiri district.ย The operation was carried out by the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) for Rukungiri Ahimbisibwe Wilberforce Ongom. The suspects were netted from private clinics, one in Rusheshe trading center and another one in Omukarangara belonging to Dr. Julius Tukamusiima, a health worker at Bugangari Health Center (IV).

๐ KENYA: Everyone must pay taxes โ President Rutoย
๐President William Ruto said on Monday that no Kenyan will be exempted from paying their fair share of taxes, amid a standoff with the Opposition. He was speaking in Mombasa, where he presided over the National Assemblyโs Post-Election Seminar 2023 in collaboration with the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), the Head of State stated that Kenya is not an animal farm where some animals are more equal than others. Opposition Azimio la Umojaโs leader Raila Odinga had earlier on Monday called upon Kenyans to refuse to pay the โpunitiveโย taxes.
๐ Pope Francis heads to DRC for a landmark visitย
๐Pope Francis is on Tuesday expected to land in the Democratic Republic of Congo, home to the largest Roman Catholic community in Africa, for a three-day visit. It is more than 37 years since the previous Pope, John Paul II visited the country when it was called Zaire. The authorities in the country have declared Wednesday a public holiday in the capital, Kinshasa, to allow Catholics attend a mass led by Pope Francis at Ndolo Airport.
