🇺🇬 IGG warns public officers over wealth declaration non-compliance
📌The Inspector General of Government (IGG) Olive Beti Kamya has warned public servants over wealth declaration non-compliance. Kamya made the warning while meeting with the political and technical leaders in Arua City. According to Kamya, the wealth declaration compliance level at Arua City stands at 75%, while for Arua District stands at 70%. She warned that those who failed to declare their wealth as required by the law, risked being summoned or punished for non-compliance.
🇺🇬 Archbishop Kazimba dubs absentee fathers ‘Judas Iscariots’
📌Church of Uganda Archbishop His Grace the Rt. Rev. Samuel Kazimba Mugalu has urged fathers who have shunned their responsibilities in families to repent and support their wives and children whom they abandoned. Kazimba, whose preaching on Easter Sunday focused on the Biblical verse of Matthew 26:14, referred to men as Juda Iscariots who betray their supposed lifetime souls whom they marry for love and commitment.
🌍 Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar to visit Uganda
📌India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will embark on a three-day visit to Uganda to explore ways to expand India’s ties with Uganda. The Minister will visit Uganda from April 10-12 and he is expected to hold delegation-level talks with his counterpart General Jeje Odongo. Mr. Jaishankar will also inaugurate a transit campus of the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) in Jinja.
🇺🇬 Car crushes woman’s leg during Way of the Cross
📌One person has been admitted to Lira Regional Referral Hospital in Lira City after a car crushed her leg during the Ecumenical Way of the Cross in Lira City on Good Friday. The victim identified as Lucy Okello, a resident of Kirombe ward, West Division in Lira City had her right foot completely crushed by a vehicle at Odokomit roundabout on the Kamdini-Lira highway after she reportedly missed a step during the walk and her foot found its way under a slowly moving vehicle.
🇺🇬 Police recover pangas from gang in Gayaza
📌Police has recovered pangas from suspected criminals in Gayaza Trading Centre, Kasangati Town Council, Wakiso District during an operation. ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson said they arrested five suspects identified as Charles Kawoya, 17, Akiram Sekubuge, 23, Enock Mwesigwa, 32, Denis Sagara, 27, Ivan Mwanja, 31 and Rachael Nekesa, 29. Police recovered eight sharpened pangas, six pit axes, five spanners, two motorcycles and a box containing nails.
🇺🇬 MITYANA: Muslims receive support
📌Muslims in Mityana District have been supported with food relief to enable them to complete the Ramadhan. While handing over the items on Saturday, Sheihk Saed Omar Ssejabjako, the Secretary for Dawah in the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council, Mityana District said that they offered the items in conjunction with Ashraf Islamic Institute and Al-Khair Foundation.

📌The Ministry of Health in partnership with Global alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) has delivered a new boat ambulance to facilitate emergency referrals and ease immunisation activities around Lake Bunyonyi. The Kabale District Health Officer, Dr Gilbert Arineitwe Mateeka noted that the boat ambulance that awaits official commissioning will help in evacuating people who will have drowned in Lake Bunyonyi and its a great relief to the residents surrounding the lake.

🌍 KENYA: Nairobi faces 9-hour power blackout
📌Kenya Power Ltd on Sunday carried out a planned maintenance that caused a blackout at Wilson Airport in Nairobi County and its environs. KPLC also listed other areas that will were affected by the power outage, including National Bank in Lang’ata, Africa Medical Research Foundation (AMREF), Flying Doctors, Blue Bird Aviation, Kenya Airways Authority (KAA), and all other adjacent customers.
🌍 DRC: ADF kills around 20 in eastern region
📌Islamic State on Saturday claimed responsibility for an attack on Musandaba, a village on the outskirts of Beni, in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo that authorities said killed around 20 people. The FADRC spokesman in the North Kivu region where the attack took place, Anthony Mwalushay, said the assailants believed to be terrorists of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) who used machetes “to avoid confrontation with the army.”
🌍 JUBA: 11 passengers killed in Abyei’s Rumamer County
📌A Government official in South Sudan’s Abyei Administrative Area has said eleven travellers were ambushed and killed in Akol Matnyang village, Rumamer County on Friday allegedly by rebels loyal to General Stephen Buay Rolnyang, who leads the rebel outfit South Sudan People’s Movement/ Army (SSPM/A).

📌Pope Francis during his Easter message to the world on Sunday called for the violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo to ‘cease’. The Pope’s message comes after his apostolic journey to the DRC where he had met the victims of abuses by armed groups in the eastern part of the country.
