🇺🇬 Police officers lose money in promotion scam
📌The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) cyber-crime unit is tracking a fraudster who has been soliciting money from unsuspecting police officers while promising them promotion in ranks. According to Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga, the fraudster referred to himself as ASP Robert on telephone number 0761987638 and has since collected an unspecified huge sum of money from the officers, promising to help them secure promotion in rank. Enanga said the con also claims to be part of the Human Resources Department at Police Headquarters in Naguru.
“We want to strongly condemn this act and inform all those who have plans to engage in such an act that it is illegal,” Enanga said on Monday.
Enanga reminds police officers that police ranks are never bought because they are not for sale.
🇺🇬 Gen Mbadi says UPDF to stay in Congo until peace is attained
📌 The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Wilson Mbadi has said UPDF troops sent to the Democratic Republic of Congo for a peacekeeping mission will remain in the country until peace and stability is attained.
“The situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo shall determine how long the UPDF soldiers on peace mission will remain there. If the situation stabilises now, the UPDF soldiers will immediately withdraw. We have no time frame or time limits,” Gen Mbadi said.
🇺🇬 Police calls for vigilance during Easter Holidays
📌 The Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga has urged members of public and religious leaders to be vigilant and work hand in hand with Security agencies so as to keep law and order throughout the holy week. Enanga said Police got intelligence about ADF plans to attack selected targets around the eastern border of Kasese, Kanungu and Ntoroko districts. He warned the public against carrying large sums of money.

📌 Uganda Police has named Commissioner of Police (CP) Polly Namaye as the deputy police spokesperson after her eighteen months stint the United Nations Mission in Juba, South Sudan. Police spokesperson Fred Enanga said that Namaye will be his deputy in charge of press-related matters as SSP Claire Nabakka handles Police’s Public Relations.
🇺🇬 NAMAYINGO: Man buries grandchild alive in banana plantation to get riches
📌 One Bagaga Isabirye from Managing District was arrested by Police for burying his 4 year old grandchild Nalumba Lahum alive in a banana plantation as he performed a ritual for getting rich quickly. According to Police, Nalumba went missing on March 07, 2023 and on 23rd, her body was recovered in the grandfather’s Plantation. Mwesigwa Dismas, an accomplice to the grandfather told Police before being arrested that the 4 year old girl was held alive before she suffocated and died.
🇺🇬 ISINGIRO: Ministry of Education to construct classrooms at Rwamurunga Primary School
📌 The Ministry of Education in partnership with the Development Response Displacement Impact Project (DRDIP) is set to construct 14 classrooms at Rwamurunga Primary School in Isingiro District. The Project Communications officer in the Office of Prime Minister, Joseph Olanyo said that under the same grant, staff rooms and quarters will also be constructed.
🇺🇬 ADJUMANI: UNHCR tasks OPM to demarcate refugee settlement plots to curb conflicts
📌 The office of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR wants Office of the Prime Minister in charge of refugees to clearly demarcate refugee settlement plots in all the 19 refugee settlement camps in Adjumani to curb refugee conflicts with the host community. The Local Council III chairperson Adropi Sub County says that the host communities are ready to have a dialogue with all stakeholders over the matter.
🇺🇬 KATAKWI: Ministry of Education constructs ICT lab at Akoboi Seed School
📌 The Ministry of Education has embarked on the construction of ICT laboratory at Akoboi Seed School in Usuk County. During the launch at the construction site, the district education officer Atim Okiroro said the ICT Laboratory will benefit students in e-Learning education services yet to be installed by NITA in partnership with UNICEF.
🌍 RWANDA: President Kagame re-elected as head of the ruling party
📌 President Paul Kagame was Sunday re-elected the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF-Inkotanyi) national chairman. Kagame received 2, 999 votes, or 99.8% of the total, whereas Abdulkarim Harelimana, who came in second place, received just 3 votes. In the same vein, a first woman vice chairperson was elected to deputise Kagame. Consolee Uwimana was elected by 1,945 votes, about 93% of the votes cast. Analysts say voting Uwimana is the party’s way of giving more power to women and keeping the ethnicity quota balanced in its top leadership.
🌍 DRC: Landslide kills 19 in eastern DRC
📌Local officials in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo say a landslide killed at least 19 people on Sunday morning. An official in the village of Bulwa in North Kivu province said the death toll was likely to rise. He said some members of a group of women and children who had been washing laundry in a mountain stream were buried after the ground collapsed beneath them. The region has been battered for months by heavy rains which have triggered flooding and mudslides.
🌍 14 Al- Shabaab militants killed in Southwestern Somalia
📌 14 Al-Shabab militants were killed by the Somali National Army (SNA) during an assault in the Southwest State of Somalia. According to Ali Mohamed Habbad, the SNA commander for the 60th division, a section of members from the group were apprehended by the Army and weapons found.
