🇺🇬 DP hails President Museveni for functional and independent Judiciary
📌Opposition party Democratic Party (DP) has hailed President Museveni for setting up a functional and independent Judiciary in Uganda. This comes just a day when two legislators of National Unity Platform (NUP),  Muhammad Ssegirinya (Kawempe North) and Allan Ssewanyana (Makindye West) were granted bail at Masaka High Court. While addressing the media on Tuesday,  DP spokesman Fred Mwesigwa said that they welcome the news of the release of the two legislators which shows that there is fairness and justice in Uganda.
“As DP, we want to applaud President Museveni and the Judiciary for practicing rule of law and following the constitution of Uganda”, he said.

🇺🇬 Internal Affairs Ministry cautions public against ‘passport brokers’
📌The  Ministry of Internal Affairs has warned the public that they do not work with brokers. Jacob Siminyu, the Ministry spokesperson said that  brokers have opened up offices at Dewinton Street, Nasser, and Nkurumah Roads after being chased out of Internal Affairs premises. Simiyu said all services with the immigration department are easy to access and the procedures are very clear for one to use.
“A passport is something that they have simplified and they don’t expect anybody to be fleeced,” he said.

🇺🇬 Police arrests two private security guards for extortimg money at illegal roadblock
📌Police in Mbale City are holding two security guards attached to Stand-by Security Uganda, a Company guarding Water Pump Mosque in Dokho, Industrial City Division in Mbale City. The suspects are identified as Andrew Okello and Albert Omageni all residents of Nasenyi cell, Dokho ward, Industrial City Division in Mbale City. According to Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Regional Police Spokesperson, the two suspects staged an illegal road block on Monday at Dokho and extorted money from bodaboda riders, passengers and drivers claiming to be traffic police officers on an operation. People in the area tipped off Police who rushed to the scene and arrested the suspects who are currently detained at Malukhu Police Post.

🇺🇬 Police recovers stolen cars in Kasangati
📌Katwe Police has arrested 5 suspects following the recovery of a car which was reported missing on Saturday February 11, 2023.The arrested individuals are Nabada Agatha, Nyenje Lawrence, Kaweesa Moses, Bukenya Charles, and Senyonga Shaban. 3 of these were aboard the car at the time of tracking and recovery while the other 2 are linked to the theft. In a statement by KMP spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire, the recovery was aided by a tracking device installed in the vehicle which eased its location  in Kasangati Division in Lutete Zone.

📌 Ministry of Internal Affairs has tightened supervision at Entebbe International Airport, with the number of supervisors increased. All spots of immigration areas have senior officers doing supervision. Screens and monitors have been put at the airport with information about what is required for one to travel.

📌The academia, staff, and students of the Masaka-based Equator University Science and Technology (EQUSaT) are mourning the death of their Vice Chancellor Prof Frederick Banvu Nozmo Mukiibi who passed on at Masaka Regional Referral Hospital on Sunday evening. According to Mr. Shaban Lukoya, the University Communication Officer, Prof. Mukiibi, 81, succumbed to a blood clot that blocked the blood vessels and eventually led to a heart attack.

🇺🇬 OMORO: Police arrests father for defiling 11-year old daughter
📌 Amoro Police Station have arrested a father for allegedly defiling his own 11-year old daughter who is a pupil of Primary  4. The incident occurred in Kal West, Aweru Parish, Opara Sub county in Amoro District. According to Atim Scovia, the mother of victim, she woke up at 5:00AM, looked at her bed side for the man to no avail till she found the man sexually assaulting his own biological daughter.

📌Farmers in Lyolwa Town Council over the weekend applauded Government over its efforts to mechanize agriculture. This came after officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) delivered a tractor to Pabone Ngiyo Beri farmers’ SACCO at Poroni cell in Nambogo ward to easy agriculture.

📌The District Chairperson, Muwonge Kasanga on Monday said that Government is taking the right step forward in promoting universal education by strengthening the District Inspectorate of Schools in districts. He made the remarks during a function at Kibaale District headquarters, when Finance Minister Hon. Matia Kasaija was delivering five new motorcycles worth Shs60M.

📌Police in Rwampara District is investigating circumstances under which Natukwasa Evelyn, 31, a wife to Muhumuza Cipriano 39, residents of Kyaruhenda village, Kikonkoma ward in Mwizi-Kabura Town Council committed suicide by hanging herself. It is alleged that her husband was away at Koranorya in Biharwe, Mbarara City.

📌Police in Rwampara has arrested a one Mweteise Wilson 45, resident of Bituntu cell, Kirere parish, Rukoni Sub County for impersonating as a security officer and terrorizing residents. The team involving the RDC, DISO, DPC and Deputy RDC conducted a search and recovered a police jacket, a pair of handcuffs, an Army ponjo, two Army capes, two batons which he claimed that belongs to a one Corporal Mugisha lnnocent purportedly working with the Flying Squad Unit in Kampala. The suspect was detained at Nyeihanga Police Station as investigations continue.

📌Police in Lira City is hunting for bangi smokers that have caused rampant crimes and prostitution in the city. while speaking to the residents of Lira City east division and Baronger central ward in a community security meeting held on Monday, the DPC Lira Police Station, Geoffrey Abigaba, urged residents to work hand in hand with Police to reveal all criminals in the City.

📌The new government digital system tracking teachers has reaped positive results. The new Education Management Information System (EMIS) was rolled to automate public services especially in the education sector to achieve efficiency, transparency and accountability. Elvis Ouliwe, a teacher at Elgon View Primary School said it is so far so good since it has put teachers on pressure to report early for work since it is the head teachers with login access.

📌Raising the village (RTV), a non-governmental organization has given out beans and maize to farmers of Buyuge and Kasuleta.  While at the end of year, seed distribution summary function at Nabigwali primary school the regional manager Mr. Kasozi Dissan said that they will be giving out 7032Kgs of maize, 1758Kgs of Onions and 42Kgs of Gnuts to villages of Kasuleta and Buyuge.

🌍 KENYA: President Ruto holds Prayers for rain
📌Kenyan President William Ruto is hosting a national prayer day to seek God’s intervention on challenges facing the country including drought and hunger. The interdenominational event was held today Feb 14th  at Nyayo stadium in the capital, Nairobi.
“All Kenyans should pray for our country so that God can bestow favour and blessings to our nation Kenya,” President Ruto said.

📌Raila Odinga, the leader of Azimio La Umoja, claims to have worked with ethical hackers to determine the truth about the last General Election, which he claims he won by over 2.2 million votes. In an interview on Monday, the former Prime Minister stated that he did not want to comment on the election until he had all the facts.

🌍 KENYA: Four police officers killed in IED attack in Garissa
📌 According to Dadaab Deputy County Commissioner, Kipkirui Siele, four police officers died after their vehicle ran over an improvised explosive device (IED) in Garissa County. This incident is one of many that have occurred in the region and is linked to the terror group Al-Shabaab being the usual suspect.

🌍 MOZAMBIQUE: Militants attack goldmine
📌Militants have attacked an Army outpost and a gold mine run by precious stones miner Gemfields Group in the northern Mozambican District of Montepuez in Cabo Delgado province. An unspecified number of police and forest rangers were killed in the attack, while staff were evacuated from the mine. The attack appeared to have been carefully planned, as hours before targeting the mine, militants targeted a nearby Army outpost.

📌Gabon President Ali Bongo, 64, on Monday proposed shortening the Presidential mandate from seven to five years as he began consultations to prepare for elections this year and measures to prevent violence.
“On the eve of future general elections, I have today decided to set the term of office for all elections to five years,” Bongo said.

🌍 ZIMBABWE: UN concerned over PVO Bill
📌The United Nations on Tuesday called on Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa to reject enacting the Private Voluntary Organizations Amendment Bill which they say will severely restrict civic space and the right to freedom of association in the Southern African nation. UN experts Tuesday expressed deep concern over Zimbabwe’s Private Voluntary Organizations (PVO) Amendment Bill which was passed by the nation’s Senate on February 1 and is currently before President Emmerson Mnangagwa for his decision on its enactment.
