📌Former Senior Presidential Press Secretary, Linda Nabusayi Wamboka has been appointed Presidential Advisor on Media. The Deputy Presidential Press Secretary, Faruk Kirunda on Tuesday confirmed the appointment in a tweet.
🇺🇬 Deputy CDF tips Journalists to be messengers of love and peace
📌The Deputy Chief of Defense Forces (CDF), Lieutenant General Peter Elwelu has urged journalists to root for love, peace and goodwill towards the country and that they should be good messengers other than spreading information that harms Uganda. He was delivering his lecture of opportunity at the ongoing Uganda Journalism Association (UJA) Symposium taking place at Kyambogo University which commenced yesterday February 06, 2023, and will be ending on February 11, 2023.
🇺🇬 Germany donates 10 ventilators to Kiruddu Hospital
📌The German Government has donated 10 new ventilators to Kiruddu National Referral Hospital to improve critical care services in the country. The machines were handed over to the hospital management led by Dr. Charles Kabugo, the Executive Director in the presence of Dr. Diana Atwine, the Permanent Secretary, Emmanuel Ainebyoona, the spokesperson, and Uganda’s Ambassador to Germany Stephen Mubiru.
🇺🇬 Landlord demolishes Autism learners school a day to schools reopening
📌Parents whose disabled learners study at Lala’s Day Care and Inclusive School in Seguku, along Entebbe Road in Wakiso District have been left stranded after finding the school felled on the ground as they returned their children for the first term of the 2023 calendar year. According to parents, the row between the landlord and the proprietor of the School, Ms Christine Murungi sparked off the demolition.

📌Hearing of a criminal case of the jailed city lawyer Male Mabirizi against top three Security officers for issuing a shoot-to-kill order on aggravated robbery suspects failed to take off before the Mukono Grade I magistrate, Paul Matyama. The officers sued are Edward Ochom, the retired Director of Operations in the Uganda Police Force, Stephen Tanui, the Kampala Metropolitan Area Police Commander, and Col. Fred Mwesigye, the commandant of UPDF’s operation Tokora.
🇺🇬NAMAYINGO: Minister commends PWDs for utilising Govt grants
📌 Hon. Asamo Hellen Grace, the Minister of State for Disability Affairs has commended the PWDs in Namayingo District for putting to proper use Government grants for entrepreneurship. She was conducting a monitoring and supervision visit in the district last week.
“Each group received the money without interference and they were able to use the money as per planned projects.” Hon. Asamo noted.
🇺🇬ARUA: RCC lauds URA, UPDF for clearing Arua streets of illicit fuel
📌The Arua Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Dr. Alice Akello has commended the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) and the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) for clearing Arua City streets of illicit sale of fuel.
“I want to thank you (URA and UPDF) for the peaceful operations you have done to clean the city of the illicit trade of fuel,” Akello said.
🇺🇬 MUBENDE: 23 passengers injured in Link Bus accident
📌23 people have been injured in a bus accident in Mubende District. The accident involving a Link Bus lost control and overturned at Gwanika along the Fort Portal-Kampala highway. The bus heading to Kampala was coming from Bwera in Kasese District. Amos Atamba, a traffic police officer at Mubende police station, says that the accident could have been caused by smoke from a plywood factory in Nabbingola.
🇺🇬 BUKEDEA: Local Government constructs Kachumbala Health IV
📌Ministry of Health in conjunction with Bukedea Local Government has constructed Kachumbala Health Centre IV. The District Health Officer, Emmanuel Okalllany explained that among the constructed structures include a new maternity unit to improve local maternity capacity and increase the safety of both mother and child care, an Out Patient Department (OPD) with various departments such as maternity ward, general ward and staff houses to accommodate workers.

The pronouncement by Minority leader Opiyo Wandayi comes on a day President Ruto met 9 ODM legislators at State House in what could be a blow to Odinga’s continued stance of not recognizing Ruto election win. Azimio coalition has called for a must-attend meeting of their National Assembly members on Thursday.
🌍 Bishops call for arrest of South Sudan attackers
📌Catholic Bishops in South Sudan are urging the Government to arrest and bring to justice the attackers who killed civilians on the eve of the historic visit of the Pope and two other top clerics. Suspected cattle herders from Jonglei state killed at least 21 civilians in Kajo-Keji county in Central Equatoria state on Thursday. Among those killed were four volunteers from the South Sudan Red Cross Society.

📌 Ghanaian Footballer Christian Atsu has been pulled from the rubble of a building with injuries after the earthquake in Turkey, his club’s vice-president Mustafa Özat said in media. Atsu, who plays for Hatayspor, was trapped in debris after the earthquake that killed at least 4,800 people.
🌍 MALI: Russian foreign minister arrives in the country to strengthen ties
📌Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has arrived in Mali for talks with the military leadership of the country. The Russian minister is expected to hold talks with the country’s interim President, Assimi Goïta and the foreign affairs minister. Russian media said the two sides will discuss issues of co-operation including military ties and the shipment of Russian grain, fertiliser and oil products to Mali.
🌍 Eritrean troops still in northern Ethiopia – TPLF
📌The spokesman for the regional authorities in the northern Ethiopian region of Tigray has said despite the organised withdrawal of most Eritrean forces “small units” still remain, three months after a peace deal was agreed to end the two-year conflict. TPLF’s Getachew Reda made the remarks about Eritrean troops during a news conference with local media after the first meeting between TPLF officials and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, the TPLF-run.

📌The President of Turkey has declared seven days of National Mourning after an earthquake toppled buildings across southeast Turkey. Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay said on Tuesday that the death toll from the earthquakes in Turkey had risen to 3,419. Meanwhile, Syria has appealed to the United Nations for help following devastating earthquakes that killed more than 5,000 people in the north east.
