The Minister for ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi has said Government is to give out new Covid19 guidelines following an increase Covid19 cases. Baryomunsi says the positivity rate of Covid19 has risen from 0.5% to 1.2% due to the refusal of some Ugandans to get vaccinated.

𝐊𝐲𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐨𝐠𝐨 University collaborates with 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 to promote joint research

The Vice-Chancellor of Kyambogo University Prof. Eli Katunguka has confirmed that Uuniversities of Kyambogo and Galway have signed an agreement to promote joint research in continuing education programmes and international collaboration. Katunguka said this during a workshop themed Chemicals and Fuels From The Sun and Recycled Carbon Dioxide held at Kyambogo University.

A total of 20 A’ Level students from the districts of Nwooya, Buliisa, Masindi and Pakwach are set to benefit from fully paid scholarships under the Local Education Programme 2023. According to the statement released today by the sponsor, TotalEnergies, applicants must be Ugandan, specifically from the already mentioned districts and must have completed O’ Level.

Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) principal Public Relations Officer, Jennifer Kalule has cautioned candidates, teachers and examination officials against any possible form of malpractice during the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations.

According to a tweet by the Works and Transport Ministry, weather buoys have been launched on lakes Victoria, Kyoga and Albert. The Ministry says its teams have already deployed the buoys in Zangebe, Panyimur and Kaazi and they are expected to aid weather forecasting and navigation in the lakes. The ministry says more will be deployed in Misonzi, Masese, Lwanika, Buvuma and Kiyindi on Lake Victoria.

The Kakumiro District Inspector of schools, Mary Kyofuna confirms that the 23 pupils of St. Christine Primary School in Kakumiro District who missed the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) Math paper will sit for a special paper on Wednesday, November 30, 9AM at Kyakuterekera Primary School, about 4 kilometres from St Christine Primary School. Education Minister Hon Janet Museveni last week directed that the students should be allowed to write the paper.

Mukono District has been given additional 7000 doses of Johnson and Johnson after registering a new Covid-19 case. Dr. Stephen Mulindwa, the District Health Officer says the patient is being isolated at Mukono Hospital.

“We are managing the situation and we have hope that the patient will be well. The Ministry has already distributed vaccines to the district for those who missed out on the vaccination to receive the jab as soon as possible,” he said.

During the celebrations by the Uganda Air Traffic Controllers Association (UGATCA) to mark 100 years of the profession held at Hotel Africana in Kampala, Rtd. Justice Steven Kavuma, the board chairperson of Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) said that by early next year, Government will be upgrading the ‘Very High Frequency (VHF) Extended Radio Network’ to improve reliability and coverage of communication between pilots and controllers.  He said the two new distance measuring equipment at Entebbe Airport will be installed to help pilots navigate and land safely.

Parish Development Model (PDM) SACCO members in Kwania District have been sensitized on how to vet committee members. This was revealed during the meeting attended by stakeholders at Atongtidi Sub county headquarters. All SACCO executive members were elected and cautioned to appropriately work to develop the local people’s standards of living.

The Ministry of Health has adopted an indoor residual spray (IRS) method as a way of curbing the rampant spread of malaria in districts of Apac, Amuru, Gulu, Oyam, Pader and Kitgum. The IRS program has helped reduce malaria cases in hospitals by more than 90%.

According to Omar Muhamad, the chairman of Uganda Muslim Supreme council (UMSC) Independent electoral commission, Muslim elections at grassroots are ongoing and are so far peaceful. While presiding over elections at Kabwohe Main Mosque today, Muhamad said these elections will churn out responsible leaders will manage Muslim affairs in accordance to the Quran.
