The Minister of Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero on Monday 17th October 2022, commissioned Madudu Isolation facility in Mubende District to begin admitting suspected cases of Ebola.

“On 17th October 2022 at 1:30pm, we commissioned Madudu Isolation facility in Mubende district to begin admitting suspect cases of Ebola,” Dr. Aceng stated.

The commissioning follows the escalation of Ebola cases in the district that needed a special facility for the control and treatment of the Virus.

Aceng along with partners such as World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), and Center for Disease Control (CDC) also visited Kassanda District and engaged the district task force to understand how the response to the Ebola epidemic is progressing.

Aceng also appreciated Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors without Borders (MSF), UNICEF, WHO and CDC for the support towards the completion of the facility.

Government has put in place several measures to control the spread of the deadly virus such as a lockdown in the areas most affected and limiting public transportation to curb the spread of the disease.
