Delayed upgrade of USMID roads irked Kabale municipal officials

The continued delay by Multiplex Company to complete the construction works on major roads within Kabala Municipality has irked local authority.

Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugisha, Kabale Municipality mayor says he is disappointed with the slow works being undertaken by the company.

Byamugisha says the work which was meant to be completed by May, 2022 has instead been extended to September, but still the progress of the road works is standing at 15%.

“It is shocking that the work which was supposed to be completed in May this year has been extended to September and still, it stands at 15% which is unbelievable,” he said.

Consequently, the municipal authority has petitioned the Speaker of Parliament of Uganda to intervene and ensure the work is completed soon.

Multiplex Construction Company Limited was awarded the Ugx21b project in 2021 to tarmac some major roads within Kabale municipality under Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development.

The roads include Bwankosa road (0.76km) which connects to Nyerere Avenue and Kabale shopping center, Bushekwire road (0.34km) linking Kabale shopping center to Kabale main road in Central Division among others.
