Court remands suspected notorious land fraudster in Entebbe

The Wakiso Chief Magistrate Court has on Monday jailed a suspected notorious land fraudster in Entebbe municipality.

Charles Kyagaba was arraigned before court following his arrest by police in conjunction with the State House Anti-Corruption Unit.

He was charged with malicious damage to property belonging to a one Margaret Kyomuhangi, a resident of Ziru village, Entebbe Municipality in Wakiso district.

It’s alleged that on 28th April 2022, Kyagaba and three others still at large, unlawfully demolished a house belonging to Kyomuhangi claiming that she had built it in his Kibanja located within the same area.

Kyagaba together with his workers Benon Kabuusu, Komakech and Wasswa forcefully demolished Kyomuhangi’s house in attempt to forcefully evict her from the Kibanja land.

Kyomuhangi later reported the case at Entebbe police station unfortunately, she was turned away after possible connivance between the suspect and some officers prompting her to petition State House Anti-Corruption Unit.

The land in question is said to be belonging to a Catholic Church and it is occupied by bibanja owners including Kyomuhangi who had bought her kibanja from Queen Mary Nayiga.

According to the investigations, the accused has been using fraudulently obtained court documents to claim ownership on people’s land.

He was remanded till 19th September when he will reappear in court.
