Court Grants Besigye, Mukaaku Ugx2.5 million Cash Bail

The Chief Magistrates Court at Buganda Road has today 1st July, 2022 granted bail to Dr. Kizza Besigye and his Co-accused Samuel Lubega Mukaaku.

Besigye and Lubega Mukaaku were granted a Cash bail of UGX 2.5 million each and UGX 500,000 non-cash for their sureties.

This follows the High Court’s dismissal of the duos bail application yesterday, June 30th 2022.

Bail was granted by the acting High Court Judge Hon. Dr. Douglas Singiza who presided over the court session.

The two accused were also given an order not to make further public gatherings and any comments about the case until its hearing is complete.

Hon. Dr. Douglas Singiza the said that their case will be fixed and the date for hearing will be set.

Besigye and Lubega were arrested on 14th June while mobilizing a city demonstration in down town Kampala and were remanded to Luzira Upper prison.
