Concern as 100 people perish in road accidents in 6 days

Traffic police have recorded 100 deaths in their latest traffic report for July 9–15, 2023, as road congestion skyrockets in the country.

According to Traffic Police spokesperson Michael Kananura, Bodaboda motorists topped the list with 42 deaths, and 40 pedestrians also lost their lives, among others.

Kananura said on Monday, July 17, at the weekly press briefing at police headquarters in Nagiru, that a total of 324 people were also injured and 133 vehicles destroyed during accidents. He warned motorists that with the new traffic law, police will intensify operations on the roads.
