Col. Katabazi Urges Students to Support Parents to Invest PDM Cash Correctly

Col. Emmy Katabazi, the Deputy Director General of the Internal Security Organisation (ISO), has urged students nationwide to take an active role in supporting their families and communities in utilising the recently disbursed Parish Development Model (PDM) funds.

While addressing the students at Muko High School in Rubanda District on July 29, 2024, Col. Katabazi, accompanied by former UNSA leaders, emphasised the importance of students becoming ambassadors of development within their homes.

The accompanying visitors were Eng. Okuk Owera, the Director of Estates at Makerere University; Dr. Orwat Patrick, a veterinary doctor; and Gerrard Muyambi, a social scientist.

“You can only be a good student by educating those who did not go to school on the value of education and money. Therefore, go and be ambassadors of development in your homes,” said Col. Katabazi.

In light of the additional UGX 100 million that the government recently allocated to each parish, Col. Katabazi emphasised the need for responsible use of the funds. He urged students to caution their parents against misusing the money, urging them to invest wisely rather than squander it.

“An additional Shs100 million has already been given to each parish. Tell your parents if they’re on that list; for God’s sake, let them not eat that money. Let them use it to invest, not to eat,” warned Col. Katabazi.

Drawing from his experience, Col. Katabazi advised students to adopt a PHD approach in life, which stands for being prayerful, hardworking, and disciplined. He stressed the importance of these values in achieving personal and communal development.

As a prominent figure in UNSA and a source of inspiration for young leaders, Col. Katabazi has dedicated himself to nurturing future leaders through educational lectures and motivational speeches to student bodies and youth groups nationwide.

Furthermore, during his visit to Muko High School, Col. Katabazi fulfilled a promise by gifting the school a brand new smart TV.
