The Government of Uganda has finally acquired the subscription rights that will allow Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) television to broadcast all the 2022 FIFA World Cup matches to be held in Qatar from November 20th to December 18th, 2022.
This comes after securing the Free-To-Air Rights (FTA), which are free and exclusive to UBC television only in Uganda.
According to the press statement released by UBC management on November 11, 2022, the games will air on UBC and Star television and all its radio stations across the country.
“The Qatar World Cup’s audience is projected at 5 billion, up from the 3.8 billion viewers in 2018,” the statement read.
According to the world football governing body, FIFA, the tournament is organised once every four years, which provides great opportunities for football fans in the entire world and excellent product merchandising, promotion, and advertising.
The move is to ensure that citizens are part of the global community in various fields such as sports, entertainment, trade, and science and innovation.
The management of UBC has urged the public to effectively engage as they enjoy sporting activities in the forthcoming festive season.
“Let us enjoy the games as part of our festive season and leverage on them to grow our business through sponsorship, promotion, and advertising,” the statement read.
The management also commended the government for being persistent in providing vital services to its citizens, which aim to elevate their standards of living.
“We use this opportunity to thank the government of Uganda for living up to its promises,” the statement read.
The top officials of UBC television commended the different corporate companies that are already part of the live broadcast of the World Cup and encouraged more companies not to miss out on the opportunity to present their products and services to the market.
